Verkocht door: Rob de Boer. Omschrijving: This little glass box is an antique French jewelry box. These werd made from around 1850 - the time of Napoleon III - until the start of the 20th century. The construction is usually the same, a delicate brass frame to support sheets of thick, beveled glass. The boxes were made in many different shapes and sizes.
These boxes were often used as a wedding gift, to keep rings and other trinkets safe. They were also sold as souvenirs. Most of the time you will find a little padded cushion in these boxes. This padding will often show some wear because of its old age.
This particular box is in good condition for its age. It does have a few chips on the edges of the beveled glass. See pictures. Dimensions are 8 x 7 x 7 centimeters (length x width x height).
You will find more of these boxes in my shop. in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Prices will differ based on shape and size of the particular box. Do take a look!
